One of the best ways to keep fashion sustainable, is to reuse clothing that's already been made. This keeps clothing out of landfills and prevents us from using more precious resources to make new clothing - all of which is super important for slow fashion. Not to mention - there are already tons of unique fashion pieces out there waiting to be loved - if you don't mind searching for them!
In the spirit of National Thrift Shop Day, we've scoured our closets for some of our favourite thrift store finds - all of which can be paired with a basic white tee (AKA an Encircled Nomadic Crew Neck).
A belt is an easy way to add some interest to a basic outfit. This vintage leather belt featuring hand-tooled details adds some 70s charm to a white tee and shorts.
Sometimes an outfit just needs a great statement piece. This silver sequined bag from the 1950s is a perfect compliment to an otherwise basic outfit. A little bling goes a long way!
There are tons of ways to accessorize with scarves. Wear it as a belt, headscarf, tie it on a handbag...the possibilities are endless! We love this bright and fun vintage Emilio Pucci scarf with a simple white tee and denim shorts. Very simple yet chic!
Nothing says 90s like a fun print dress layered over a basic tee. This fun dress made by Espirit was purchased at Value Village for about $12.49. Easy to wear to the office or out on the go.
Thrifting is a great way to find statement pieces for affordable prices - all while being gentle on the environment. Do you have a favourite item that you've bought thrifted or vintage? Let us know in the comments!
Into thrifting fashion blogs? Be sure to check out this list for some new thrift blogger favourites! ReFashion is also a great read. She upcycles unloved pieces into beautiful new designs - now that's recycled fashion!
With gratitude,
Brittany
