Do you dream of the freedom of traveling carry-on only? Imagine. Breezing through the airport past long check-in lines. Strutting off the plane, knowing exactly where your luggage is -- in your hand -- beating the rush to the taxi queue because you don't have to wait for your bag. Confidently navigating the narrow streets in Rome with your ultra-lightweight 4-carry-on suitcase. Effortlessly running up the steps of the Piazza di Spagna, and onwards to your hotel. Traveling light is possible. And we can help you get there.
Encircled creates clothing that versatile in design, and everlasting in style. We beautifully mesh function with style. (Think of us as the opposite to zip off pants). We believe that stylish travel clothing is possible. And that in life, compromise is optional.
The costs of producing an $8 t-shirt go way beyond the price tag. They include an inevitable compromise on human rights, materials and the environment to create a t-shirt at that price point. A t-shirt that more than likely will warp or fall apart after one wash.
Over the past two decades, the fast fashion industry has taught customers to buy cheap and buy often. And we know, you're better than that.
We take a mindful and slow approach to design. We produce only what we need.
We incorporate sustainable practices into everything we do from the sourcing of eco-fabrics to up-cycling production cuttings, using recyclable shipping materials and printing on only 100% post-consumer recycled paper.
Encircled is committed to bringing quality, sustainability and humanity back to the fashion industry.
Kristi Soomer, Founder + CEO, Encircled
A former management consultant, who virtually lived in airports and spent most of her weeks up in the air, Kristi started Encircled with a dream of helping women like you travel lighter and do more with less. Frustrated with the lack of versatile clothing that blended style with function with quality fabrics, she started designing it. She believed strongly after years of working in the retail space, that she also wanted her line to be ethically-made, and sweatshop-free.
With no fashion training, and little capital, our first design, the Chrysalis Cardi was created on Kristi's kitchen floor. Using a sewing machine purchased from Craigslist, and construction paper to make the first sample and pattern. After years of bootstrapping Encircled while working full-time, Kristi made the leap to full-time entrepreneurship in late 2014.
Since then Encircled has grown into a studio space in the vibrant Junction area of Toronto and a team of employees who share her passion for ethical fashion.
