Ethically-Made Clothing

Encircled clothing is locally-made within 60km of our studio in Toronto, Canada at garment factories we vet for standards against our Ethical Code of Conduct checklist.

Local production in Canada means fair wages, safe working conditions, regulated time off, provincially funded health care and the right to unionize. Workers are protected by the Province of Ontario Employee Standards Act. We visit factories regularly, often weekly if not more frequenlty.

We prioritize working with local production on every component from labels, to zippers, to fabric due to the higher quality and standard of life offered to those who make the products locally in Canada.

Environmentally-Conscious

Low impact dyes that are free of harmful chemicals, and tested to be safe for your skin and safe for the workers harvesting, knitting and dying the fabric.

A large portion of our fabric (approx. 50%) is knit and dyed locally in Ontario, reducing our carbon footprint significantly.

Every fabric contains naturally-derived fibres that meet the highest standards of environmental sustainability. Read more on the Fabric below for each style.

Where noted, our fabrics are certified yarns, which means that they're sustainably-sourced in a way that honours the planet in the process.

I ordered the navy and liked it so much I ordered the black and green. It's very versatile and comfortable and I really like the cut. I love the neckline overall (it's not too high or too low) but for me, it would be nice if it were just a little less wide since I don't want to wear it off the shoulder.

FIT ADVICE

The Dressy Sweatshirt fits true to size - it's loose throughout the body and arms, but snug at the wrist and hip bands.

Model's Measurements

MERINO: Shannon, shown in Navy Blue, is 5'7", size 0-2, is wearing a size XS/S. Tamiah, shown in Black is 5’11", size 4 and wearing a size XS/S. Destiny shown in Dark Heather Grey is 5'9", size 8-10, wearing size XL.

TENCEL: Kyra, shown in Sapphire Blue, Forest Green and Nutmeg is 5'7", size 4 and wearing size S.

MERINO: 🍃 Black, Navy Blue and Dark Heather Grey Dressy Sweatshirt made from Rayon from Bamboo | Merino Wool | Spandex French Terry.

TENCEL: An incredibly soft STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified French Terry knit, Made from organic cotton yarn, TENCEL™ Lyocell. Soft, luxurious French Terry made from an eco-friendly blend of Tencel™ Lyocell and organic cotton. Tencel™ Lyocell is made from wood pulp in a closed-loop process, meaning no water, harmful chemicals or bi-products were released back into the environment. Combined with organic cotton, this lightweight and cozy French Terry fabric is as dreamy to wear as it is sustainable. Dyes are hypo-allergenicand OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified to be free of harmful chemicals.

Care

Machine wash on gentle cycle, cold water. Hang to dry or lay flat. A light iron can be used but keep on low and use a towel in between the fabric and iron to avoid singeing the fibres. Do not put it in the dryer. Do not dry clean.
