This is the third post in the Traveling Cardi series, and the first post from Travelista, Patricia.
I travel often for work and usually add an adventure vacation or two to my work travels each year.
I work as a forensic psychologist with a faculty appointment at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in NYC; but, I live in a suburb of Tampa, Florida. To make this work, I commute to NY from FL every month for a few days of meetings and on-site teaching and mentoring.
The rest of the time I work from my FL office via technology …I teach online and meet with my students in real-time. In addition to my job, I run an online professional training website for my colleagues. This also requires me to travel…mostly to interesting places around the world to develop content for my professional training site or to give invited addresses to various groups of legal or psychological professionals.
I take about 25 trips a year, averaging about once every two weeks. By now, I’m a professional traveler, often taking just one shoulder bag with me on short jaunts, and almost never checking a bag.
I am always on the look out for clothes that can perform double-duty since this makes packing even easier. I recently came across the Chrysalis Cardi and I love it! It’s a versatile as I am…and I love that!
My first travels with my Cardi were back-to-back trips to NYC and Maastricht, Netherlands. I had been asked to give a Keynote address at an International Conference in Maastricht. This was quite the professional honor!
Maastricht is a lovely, manageable city in The Netherlands about 2 hours south of Amsterdam. We arrive via Brussels and take a series of trains to get to Maastricht.
My Cardi has served me well on the plane, acting as my travel blanket.
The first thing we do when we strike out in Maastricht is go into the city center (the old town) to check things out. As is true throughout most of The Netherlands, there are a number of bridges and we, of course, stop to take a photo.
It’s a rainy day and the umbrella I’ve packed comes in very handy many times. But, so does my Cardi! I start out wearing it as a cardigan as it keeps me cozy in the rain but, as the sunshine comes out and the rain dries up, it becomes quite warm and a tad humid so, I switch up my Cardi from a cardigan to a double loop and, later on, to a big loop.
We take some photos, hang out with a glass of wine in the Markt square and just enjoy watching the hustle and bustle of the people in the city.
My keynote address goes very well and now we are free to play!
Next stop, Amsterdam!
